About the Art

For more than 30 years, capturing beautiful and artful images on film has been the primary focus of Joan Strunk’s artistic life. But in the year 2004, a transition was made into the digital world that would open a door of unbelievable possibilities. She ventured into an infinite universe of virtual media that would transform her works into pieces of fine art that would rival the old world masters. Each piece begins with a digital capture which insures a genuine likeness of the subject. A “One-of-a-kind” art piece is created through use of a virtually limitless palette, brushes and tools of the digital world.

Today, Joan Strunk’s art embraces the following media:

Watercolor Interpretations—“The Gi`clee”
This is a wonderful light and airy art piece that is printed on archival watercolor paper. Light backgrounds and white or pastel clothing are perfect choices for the watercolors.

Virtual Oil Paintings—“The Marquis”
These images, which are typically deeper in tone, represent a more formal and elegant rendering of the subject. The “Marquis Paintings” are printed on the finest archival canvas and more closely resembles an oil painting at a more affordable price.

Photographic Studies—
All of our work, including our classic portrait studies, is artistically enhanced far beyond the capabilities of the camera alone.

Testimonials

A friend, actually several friends referred me to Joan about 4 years ago when my daughter was a year old. Since I live in Alpharetta, GA, it seemed like a long way to go but everyone had such great things to say about Joan that I thought I would give her a try. Well, 4 years later I am still happy to make the 1 hour drive (one way!) at least 3 or 4 times a year to see Joan for all of my family and children’s pictures.

Out of all the photographers in Atlanta, and there are many to choose from, I will always choose Joan. She has such a gift in working with children. On days when my children don’t really want to smile or have their picture taken and I am afraid that we won’t get “the good shot” Joan always amazes me with the most incredible pictures! How she does it I will never know. My kids always look forward to seeing “Miss Joan” and she always makes them feel special.

“Thank you Joan, for the most amazing pictures of my family and my children. You have helped me capture precious moments in time that I will treasure for the rest of my life.”
